Here we are at the beginning of another year, 2025. The first blast of winter came with 5 in of snow. It was beautiful but caused a lot of headaches for drivers. Last year came and went so fast it is hard to remember all that happened. As we try to make sense of the last year it is hard to figure out what happened and why. I my case my whole world turned upside down and now I am having to revamp my entire outlook on the future. Because of a medical issue I lost a wonderful job and a big part of my mobility. I now must look at what to do to make ends meet without the additional income I had. It puts a huge damper on what you can do for yourself and others.
But we are assured, if you are a child of God, that you will never be forsaken. I Even though I must step back and determine what is a want or a need. Sometime what you thought was a need turns out to be not a need after all and with some effort can be easily set aside for those things that are a must. Well, enough looking back; and looking forward will usually take care of itself if we give it to God and don’t try to do everything ourselves.
I will be revamping this website. Adding some videos and short stories getting carried on more sites than just one. This will be a work in progress so don’t leave, just come along for the ride. The future is what you make of it.
I was watching a show on TV about a group of older women who open themselves of up as a question-and-answer site called Grandma Stand. The gest of the article was that many people have never experienced the joy of a grandparent. I know how wonderful it is to spend time with my own grandchildren and great-grandchildren. My own and those I have claimed as my own. At the church I attend everyone calls me Grandma Judy (Grama Judy). My self and the other older ladies have taken on the younger generation who don’t have the privilege of Grandma time. We always have time for hugs and time to listen to stories, sometimes carry a pocketful of treats. Because most of us have gray or white hair we are called the wise ones. We have watched kids grow up from Nursery to marriage and taking their places in the community and ministry.
Just because you no longer hold down a job or if you don’t get around as well as you used to doesn’t mean you don’t have anything to give. Embrace your elder years and adopt a new generation. Become a grandma, somebody needs one just to listen.
Become Grandmother Lois and pray a Timothy into the fold.
